Description

This is my final this week! And I'm loving it :D

The challenge?
You must design based upon the culture of a specific country. I did Japan
The journal is here: [link]

The Pattern I used is here: [link] By Resurgere (gah, they're beautiful!)

My inspiration this week was from koi, and everone was bugging me of kimonos so I put a bit in the and I put punK and kars(ok now im going overboard  )in as well.

The tops high neck with the button clasp resembles a racing jacket and the sleeves are for the kimono, but there are pleats with red inside. The 4 deatail plates resemble koi fins and are also good for the fitting of the jacket, theres more fitting on the back as well. The buttons are bronze.

The mid section is an obi of sorts with a bronze spiked belt that melds the punk society with the classic 1920's geisha. The bottom section of the dress is a midweight fabric with spots also that resemble koi and the 1st layer is lighter than the 2nd layer to appeal to the eye a bit. The shorts are underneath resemble a tighter version of men's shorts (like Mugen wears in Samurai Champloo). The length of the skirt is also a "racing" kind of length (ya noe, all the girls wear short skirts? oh..just go watch tokyo drift!)

The shoes are wooden and made to mock the old Japanese style shoes and the gloves are no finger gloves that start just below the wrist. Her hair is very layered, lighten and has alot of intresting highlights to be just as many Japanese women who find individuality in thier hair. The make up mocks a Geisha's with the light eyeshadow and a red lips :D

I think thats it and I hope you like it!

Love the shoes. The things designers do to shoes sometimes are so cool. Like Mia Mia she has these huge platforms that have like gold Rococo style motifs on top of white platforms with black leather for the straps (and I think there were gold buttons holding the straps down I can't remeber), LOVE them. And love your work =P.
